How to make your own Vermicomposter

or... build a worm bin

Materials

Tools required:

How it's done

  1. Drill 5/8" holes 2" from bottom on sides, 2 on each side, for the pipe to go through (see picture)
  2. Cut pipe to about 3/4" longer than width of bin, from hole to hole
  3. Drill 1/4" holes through pipe at regular intervals, alternating at 90° from one to next
  4. Sand ends of pipe so it fits through the holes in the bin
  5. Drill 1/8" holes in lid (about two dozen) and around 2" from top of bin (I did 5 on each side, 3 on each end) (see picture) for ventilation
  6. Drill several 1/16" holes in bottom of bin for drainage (see picture)
  7. Drill 3/32" holes in end caps (4 or 5) -easiest to drill from inside, angled outward (see picture)
  8. Put pipes through 5/8" holes, put end caps on pipes (see picture), put bucket on tray.
    Badaboom badabing. See picture
