To use this font effectively, the first thing you need to know is what the heck I'm talking about.

I suggest you read the entire page, and look at the examples before trying it yourself. Some planning is involved!

The patterns are broken down into squares, one square for each [top left to right bottom] over [top right to left bottom] cross. (Follow?) Each corner of the crossed lines exits (or enters, depending on your perspective) the square in one of three directions. The pieces are categorized by the direction of the corners: D for Diagonal, H for Horizontal, and V for Vertical.

The pieces are labeled as follows: top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right; for the full pieces (of which there are 32), and top, bottom; for the half and edge pieces (36 half, 18 edge)

For example: this is the HDVV piece.

You will always need to start a row with a left edge piece;
you will always need an H on the top row (i.e. an HH** piece or H* halfpiece), and on the bottom row (**HH or *H);
you will always need to end a row with a right edge piece.

Every left half piece will match with every right half piece. Every left half horizontal break piece will match with every right half horizontal break piece.

To create a vertical break, use a right edge piece, then a left edge piece.

Here is a list of the character allocation table (which key each piece is assigned to)
